Tema 18: Los cuantitativos (quantifiers). Some/any y sus compuestos.

 Introducción:

Los cuantitativos son numerales y expresan una "cantidad de algo". Los más corrientes son:

a/one: Parecen iguales pero no lo son: A pen is very useful (cualquier pluma es útil, ninguna en particular. One pen is enough for me (una pluma y no más es suficiente para mi).

Some/any: significan una "cierta cantidad de algo" (algo). Si la oración es afirmativa usamos "some": There are some cars in the street. Cuando es negativa o interrogativa usamos "any". Are there any cars in the street?. There are not any cars in the street. (Trad. Hay coches en la calle?. No ha coches en la calle)

Much/many: much (mucho) para incontables: There isn´t much sugar. Many (muchos) para contables: There are many books on the table.

Too much/too many:Too much + sustantivo incontable: They have too much money. Too many + sustantivo contable: They have too many children

Little/few: Little (poco) con incontables: little coffee. Few (pocos) con contables: few pencils.

someone (anyone): I could see someone in your house (alguien)

somewhere (anywhere): He must be somewhere (en alguna parte)
